Lava Cap Winery
Lava Cap is a family-owned winery that’s steeped in history. The Jones family of geologists chose the winery’s location for its prime volcanic soil that’s known to be perfect for growing wine grapes, and planted their first vines in 1981, followed by the opening of the winery and the debut of their first vintage in 1986. Since then, Lava Cap’s wines have continued to bring in a steady stream of awards and gold medals from all over the country every year. Between the hard work of Joe Norman, the winemaker that crafts each wine with artisan production techniques to ensure full depth and flavor, and Charlie Jones, the vineyard manager that uses sustainable vineyard practices and management strategies to cultivate the highest quality produce while ensuring that the ecosystem is healthy, the wine created at this winery lives up to the family philosophy of expressing the complex varietal characters and elegance from every section of the vineyards.
