“Lavender Labyrinth” – Bluestone Meadows

“Lavender Labyrinth” Bluestone Meadows | Farm Trails El Dorado County

John and Carolyn Havacon selected this quilt design because it reminded them of their upcoming project—a lavender labyrinth. A labyrinth symbolizes a journey, as much as the destination. Visualize strolling along a path lined with fresh lavender, which is known to be calming. They hope visitors and wedding parties will enjoy the farm and leave refreshed. After long careers, they decided to embark on a new journey and purchased this 20 acres of rural property. The Pony Express used the old ranch house as a relay stop. It was known as the two-mile house since it was two miles from Placerville. In addition to lavender, they grow pumpkins and Christmas trees. Don’t miss their Lavender Festival in June with unique gifts made with lavender. Their pumpkin patch is open October 6th – check the website for dates and times.

Bluestone was named after the blue rock that is found on the property. It is believed to be the rock deposits from the “Deep Blue Lead” goldmine, which was one of the richest gold strikes in Placerville. This quilt block was painted by Jane Harris.
