“Moon Tree” – Columbia Flat
The story of the Moon Tree name is: a tree on their property went to the Moon as a seedling and is planted on their property. The design reflects the moon shining on the great tree with a path leading up to it. The four corner blocks are called ‘bear claw’ in quilting design terms. The quilt was painted by Cathie Urquhart.
Offering 7 campsites under the Oaks in what was the largest Miwok Rancheria in the area, Columbia Flat is just 5 miles from where gold was discovered. You can rise and shine with the roosters and know that farm-fresh eggs are available for sale as well as organic produce from the garden. An outdoor shower refreshes after a long hike. The valley was once filled with pear trees and they still have one of the 100-year-old trees left after the blight. They also have a walnut orchard (nuts available in season) that has been around for 75 years.
