“Davies Cabin” – The Davies Family Inn

Shadow Ridge Ranch was originally homesteaded in the 1860’s by the Raffetto family who operated a store down the road. The family sold produce, wine that grandpa made for the gold miners during the boom times. It was alive with prospectors, weary travelers, and Italian friends reminiscing about the “old country” or telling of their latest gold strike. Best of all was seeing the Wells Fargo Concord Stage Coach, flying by with the fury of thundering hoofs, carrying gold to the Sacramento banks via the old stage route known today as Fort Jim Road.

The rustic elegance of this mid-1800s era log cabin homestead has been preserved and enhanced by the Davies family to promote the look and feel of frontier living. With more than 8 acres, it includes the main lodge, guest cottages, several event sites, and lots of trees. The rustic cabin painted on their quilt block celebrates the history of the cabins…it is mounted on the barn across the road from the lodge. Painted by Cathie Urquhart.
